Joc Pederson Sitting Against Lefty On Wednesday
4 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Joc Pederson is heading to the bench for Wednesday's game against lefty David Peterson and the New York Mets. Jake Marisnick is getting the start in center field and batting eighth as Ian Happ is shifting over to cover Pederson's typical left field post. Pederson has been dreadful in the early going of his first season with the Cubs. Through 16 games, he is slashing .137/.262/.235 with just one home run and 20 strikeouts. Over his career, the left-handed Pederson has an .844 OPS against righties and a .564 OPS against lefties, so it's no surprise that the team is benching him against the Mets' southpaw.
