BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 48% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Chicago White Sox pitcher Michael Kopech has looked fantastic through his first four appearances this year, all coming out of the bullpen. He's pitched 7 2/3 innings and allowed two hits, three walks and one earned run while striking out 13.
Kopech was one of the top pitching prospects in the Majors back in 2018. He was forced to undergo Tommy John surgery after the 2018 season, then after working his way back, he opted out of the 2020 season. So the White Sox are prepared to be careful with his workload, which is why he's been relegated to a relief role out of the gate this year. However, there's a good chance he sneaks his way into the team's rotation at some point this year, especially if he keeps pitching like this.
Kopech currently ranks in the top 1% of the league in xSLG (.151) and xERA (1.17) and within the top 3% of the league in strikeout rate (44.8%). At the very least, Kopech can provide fantastic ratio help to fantasy managers. He has sneaky value as a reliever with starting pitcher eligibility for fantasy managers. He should be rostered in all leagues of 12 teams or deeper and might be worthy of a stash in more shallow leagues as well.
