4 years agoSan Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado has 25 hard-hit balls (exit velocity of 95 mph or greater) so far this season, which ties him with Paul Goldschmidt for second in baseball and two behind Ronald Acuna Jr.'s MLB-leading 27. Machado hit his third home run of the year in the first inning in the 8-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday, driving in three runs in total. Through 14 games in 2021, Machado is slashing .240/.371/.460 with eight runs scored, eight RBI and two stolen bases in 62 plate appearances. If he continues to hit the ball hard consistently like he has so far this year, expect his average to continue to rise as we move into the second month of the 2021 campaign.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
