Matt Olson Day-To-Day After Being Hit On Hand
4 years agoOakland Athletics first baseman Matt Olson (thumb) is being listed as day-to-day after he was removed in the eighth inning after getting hit by a pitch on his left hand on Monday night. Manager Bob Melvin said that X-rays on Olson's hand showed no broken bones after the game. Olson suffered a thumb contusion. "It swelled up a little bit," Melvin said. "Nothing was broken. He probably won't play tomorrow." Olson went 0-for-2 at the plate with a sacrifice fly before departing, and he was replaced by Seth Brown at first base to finish the game. The A's have an off day on Wednesday, so they'll likely wait to see how he feels on Thursday. With Mitch Moreland (hamstring) also injured, we'd expect Brown to get the start on Tuesday in the series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks and right-hander Zac Gallen.
