Greg Holland Earns Win On Sunday
4 years agoKansas City Royals relief pitcher Greg Holland earned the win in Sunday's 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox. Holland pitched two scoreless innings, allowing no hits while walking two. Holland pitched the eighth and ninth innings, then Kyle Zimmer came in for the 10th inning to earn his first save of the year. Holland is presumed to be the Royals' primary closer at this point, but is yet to earn his first save. He's made three appearances this year, pitching three innings and allowing four hits, five walks and three runs (two earned) while striking out two. He should be considered the top candidate for saves on the Royals, but it might be a bit of a committee situation for now. Jesse Hahn, Wade Davis and Zimmer each have a save for the Royals and could continue to limit Holland's save opportunities going forward.
