4 years agoTampa Bay Rays infielder Joey Wendle is not in the team's Opening Day lineup against Sandy Alcantara and the Miami Marlins. Yandy Diaz is getting the start at third base, where Wendle is expected to see most of his time this year, though he may also see a good deal of time at his primary position, second base. Rays manager Kevin Cash said that the lineup decision wasn't based on a matchup situation or an injury. He said it was "just a matter of anticipating workload over first week." Cash also added, "Wendle is slated to play a lot rest of trip." Expect to see Wendle in the starting lineup for game two of the series against Pablo Lopez on Friday.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
