No Traction For Astros, Carlos Correa On Long-Term Extension
4 years agoThe Houston Astros offered superstar shortstop Carlos Correa around $120 million for six years, and to this point there has been no signs of traction that the two sides are close to working out a deal. If no deal occurs, the 26-year-old will be the youngest in a great free-agent class of shortstops after the 2021 season. Despite not getting anything done with Correa, Houston did sign starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. to a five-year, $85 million extension on Wednesday. Correa was a disappointment in 2020, but he could easily bounce back in 2021 if he can just stay healthy. Of course, that's a big question mark, as he hasn't stayed healthy for over 600 plate appearances since 2016. His name value alone might inflate his fantasy price, but Correa should still be a valuable fantasy contributor in four categories.
