BALLER MOVE: Add in 14-Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 3% of leagues
ANALYSIS: George Hill nears his return to the OKC rotation while he recovers from an ankle injury, and yet at the same time, that moment realistically feels a moderate distance away. With rookie Theo Maledon left at the helm, the Thunder opted to bring in second-year pro Ty Jerome as interim backup point guard following an impressive G-League Bubble performance with the affiliated Blue. Jerome didn't get a real chance to showcase his abilities as a rookie in Phoenix despite being drafted 24th overall in 2019 out of Virginia, and while it's tough to say whether Oklahoma City could be Jerome's home at any exit down the road, it's quite easy to say that he's been an incredible fit thus far for the Thunder.
In a sample size of ten games, Jerome has played 26.7 minutes on average, producing 9.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game on 39.2% shooting from deep (2.0 out of 5.1 per game). Jerome has improved his overall offensive game mildly, but it's a brand new discussion if he's hitting threes with volume and accuracy, and though he hasn't improved upon his rebounding or steal percentages yet, he has boosted his assist rate to 18.9% while nearly cutting his turnover percentage in half (13% to 7.6%). In meaningful backup minutes, Ty Jerome's well-rounded game is already a threat, but throw in dead-eye shooting from deep and a heightened appreciation for taking care of the ball, and you've got yourself a deep-league guard who maximizes his odds of making a positive contribution night in and night out.
