Michael Wacha Tosses Four Scoreless Innings Saturday
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Michael Wacha threw four scoreless innings on Saturday, allowing just one hit while striking out three against the Twins. He has yet to allow a run this spring, as he has allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out five in seven innings of work. Wacha posted a career-worst 6.62 ERA in 34 innings with the Mets last year, but he also posted a career-best 4.5 percent walk rate, while his 23.7 percent strikeout rate and 11.3 percent swinging strike rate were his best marks since his rookie season in 2013. He's looking sharp this spring, and managers in AL-only formats should look at him as a late-round lottery ticket.
