Cowboys Defense Adds Three Defensive Lineman
4 years agoThe Dallas Cowboys signed former New York Jets outside linebacker Tarell Basham to a two-year deal worth up to $6.5 million, according to a source. Former Chicago Bears defensive lineman Brent Urban agreed to an undisclosed one-year deal. And former Houston Texans defensive tackle Carlos Watkins inked an undisclosed one-year deal. Dallas will consider Basham as a defensive end in their 4-3 system, and he could start opposite DeMarcus Lawrence in the base defense if Randy Gregory is featured in passing situations. Urban, 29, is a physical presence in the trenches, and he should upgrade their run defense, when healthy. Watkins, 27, will add more athleticism to the defensive line. He made 11 starts last year for the Houston Texans while totaling 27 tackles and two sacks.
