Jose Abreu Has Productive Day At The Plate
4 years agoChicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu had a productive day at the plate in Thursday's win over the Royals. Abreu went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored, and a walk. The 2020 AL MVP has yet to hit his first spring homer, though he had gotten off to a similarly slow start in last year's build-up to the regular season before putting up monster numbers. Abreu clubbed 19 homers in 60 games last year, posting the best slugging percentage of his career. He registered the highest barrel and hard-hit rates of his career while eclipsing his career-average in HR/FB rate by 12.8 percent. Abreu is one of the best sluggers in the game on one of the best offenses in baseball, though expectations need to be tempered a bit as he entered his age-34 campaign at a 37 ADP.
