J.B. Bukauskas One Of Five Players Reassigned On Tuesday
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks pitcher J.B. Bukauskas was optioned to Triple-A on Tuesday afternoon, the team announced on Twitter. Bukauskas was the big name among this round of cuts, which included pitcher Corbin Martin, infielder Geraldo Perdomo and outfielder Stuart Fairchild, who were also optioned to Triple-A, while first baseman Seth Beer was reassigned to Minor League Camp. It was somewhat of a surprise that Bukauskas did not make the Opening Day roster, as he had not allowed a baserunner across four innings of work while striking out nine this spring, and appeared to have a shot at grabbing a spot in the bullpen. Bukauskas has high strikeout upside with a career 27.3 percent rate across 161 2/3 innings in the minors, and when he gets the call to join Arizona, he should be immediately claimed off the waiver-wire in most deep leagues or NL-only formats.
