Michael Kopech Dealing With Tight Calf
4 years agoChicago White Sox right-handed pitcher Michael Kopech (calf) was originally scheduled to pitch in a Cactus League game on Friday against the Rangers, but he felt tightness in his calf and instead threw a bullpen session. Right-handed reliever Matt Foster also had a setback in spring training with what manager Tony La Russa described as soreness. But Foster is throwing and is expected to pitch in a game in a couple of days. Kopech has lots of upside, but he's returning from Tommy John surgery and hasn't pitched in a competitive game in over two years. His fastball and slider are both putaway pitches, but he's likely to begin the 2021 season either in a long-relief role or in the minor leagues, limiting his fantasy appeal considerably.
