Royals Have Engaged Adalberto Mondesi About Extension
4 years agoThe Kansas City Royals have recently engaged shortstop Adalberto Mondesi about a long-term contract extension, according to sources familiar with the situation. However, one source cautioned that there is "a lot to work through." The 25-year-old is under team control for three more years, but the Royals might want to sign him to an extension sooner than later. KC is hoping Mondesi's .356/.408/.667 slash line with six home runs and 24 RBI in 100 plate appearances in September and October last year is a sign of things to come. At a position packed with stars, Mondesi won't offer much help in batting average or power, but he is an elite stolen-base asset for fantasy managers. If he's the hitter that finished last season instead of the one prior (.186 average in July and August), Mondesi will be a no-doubt top-10 fantasy shortstop.
