4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper gave reporters a good laugh in a recent interview. He was asked about advanced stats and analytics and he replied by saying, "I don't really like stats. Exit velocity, I don't care about that. I'm more of, exit hits...I don't understand any of that. I am a GED guy." Despite Harper's lack of interest in advanced analytics, his 2020 numbers were extremely favorable in the analytics world. He raised his maligned exit velocity from 91.9 in 2019 to 92.5 last year. He also saw his barrel-rate increase significantly year-over-year from 14.8% to 17.3%. Harper's being drafted as a mid-second rounder right now. He'll have hot and cold stretches throughout the year, but his season-long numbers should be elite.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
