Anthony Bender Strikes Out Three On Thursday
4 years agoMiami Marlins relief pitcher Anthony Bender pitched 1 1/3 innings in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Washington Nationals. Bender struck out three without allowing anyone to reach base. He's yet to allow a run this spring and is averaging almost 98 mph on his fastball. Bender was a 20th round pick from the 2016 draft and has spent time in the Royals and Brewers minor league systems. He hasn't pitched above the Double-A level yet, but Miami Herald Marlins reporter Craig Mish stated that Bender is making "an extremely strong case" to make the Opening Day roster.
