Lavonte David Covers A Lot Of Ground
4 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David, who signed a two-year, $25 million contract extension on Tuesday, is one of the more rangy linebackers in the league. He accumulated 56 hustle stops over the last four seasons, which is 12 more than any other linebacker. Hustle stops qualify as tackles where the defender covers 20 yards of in-play distance and prevents the offensive from pulling off a successful play. The next closest linebacker was the Saints' Demario Davis with 44 hustle plays since 2017. The 31-year-old had 117 tackles (82 solo), 1.5 sacks, one interception and two fumble recoveries over 16 regular season games for the Bucs in 2020. It doesn't get much better at the position, which makes David a coveted IDP player at the linebacker position.
