Brad Keller Taking On A Leadership Role For Royals
4 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Brad Keller had a strong season in 2020. He went 5-3 with a 2.47 ERA and 1.02 WHIP. Five of his nine starts were quality starts. He held opposing hitters to a barrel rate of 3.7%, which ranked amongst the 89th percentile of the league. This year, Keller projects to be the Royals' No. 1 starter and finds himself in a leadership role with the team. While he should be able to maintain a low ERA and WHIP in 2021, he's a weak strikeout pitcher. He averaged just 5.8 K/9 last year, which was down from 6.6 K/9 in 2019. He's a good target late in fantasy drafts for anyone in need of ERA and WHIP help, but he doesn't have tremendous upside. He also may get tagged with a good amount of losses as he'll be going up against opposing aces often.
