Gregory Soto Strikes Out Side On Thursday
4 years agoDetroit Tigers relief pitcher Gregory Soto had a disappointing spring debut on Monday, giving up a walk and two hits, including a Gary Sanchez home run, and lasting just 2/3 of an inning. He came back strong in his second appearance on Thursday. Facing the Toronto Blue Jays, Soto pitched a perfect fifth inning, striking out the side while his fastball topped out at nearly 99 mph. Soto appears likely to be the Tigers closer to open the year. Last year over 23 innings, he recorded two saves and posted a 4.30 ERA and 1.26 WHIP while averaging 11.3 K/9.
