4 years agoDetroit Tigers third baseman Spencer Torkelson will make his first spring training start on Friday against the New York Yankees. He'll be batting fifth in the game. Torkelson has made just two plate appearances so far, resulting in a walk and a strikeout. The 21-year-old Torkelson is the Tigers' top prospect and he's ranked No. 3 on MLB.com's Top 100 Prospects list. He'd need a big spring in order for the team to consider including him on their opening day roster. It's most likely that he begins the year in the minors and the Tigers may even keep him there for most or all of the year depending on how he progresses.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
