4 years agoKansas City Royals outfielder Whit Merrifield has shown off his versatility throughout his MLB career. He's made 184 career starts in the outfield and 379 career starts at second base. About half of his career outfield starts have been in right field. This year, that percentage appears likely to go up immensely. The Royals plan for Merrifield to be their everyday right fielder, with minimal appearances at other positions. Merrifield is the leader of an improving Royals offense that added some promising fuel this offseason. Last year, he slashed .282/.325/.440 with nine home runs, 30 RBI, 38 runs and 12 stolen bases over 60 games.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
