4 years agoKansas City Royals first baseman Ryan McBroom came on as a pinch-hitter in the sixth inning of Monday's game against the Cleveland Indians. He doubled in a run in his first at-bat, then went on to hit a two-run home run in his second at-bat. McBroom is lined up for a bench role with the team this year. Carlos Santana will be the team's primary first baseman. McBroom and Ryan O'Hearn will be candidates to back up Santana. McBroom could also see time in left field or as a designated hitter, though the team is relatively deep at both of these positions as well. He'll need a few injuries or a monstrous spring to earn significant playing time to start the year.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
