Jarred Kelenic Putting On A Show At Camp
4 years agoSeattle Mariners outfield prospect Jarred Kelenic has been putting on a show with towering home runs early in spring camp this week. Kelenic has been compared to former left-handed sluggers Chase Utley and Steve Finley and current Nationals star Juan Soto for his left-handed swing. He's MLB Pipeline's No. 4 overall prospect heading into the 2021 season and figures to see significant playing time early in Cactus League games, which begin this Sunday. However, the Mariners continue to say that Kelenic needs more minor league development, regardless of how he performs in camp. Even if the 21-year-old doesn't start the year on the major league squad, he's expected to be up in the majors in short order despite playing in only 21 games above High-A ball in his two seasons.
