Angels Are A Suitor For Jake Odorizzi
4 years agoThe Los Angeles Angels have been a suitor for free-agent starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi all offseason. The San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox have also been mentioned as suitors for the 30-year-old right-hander who threw only 13 2/3 innings last year after making three trips to the injured list due to an intercostal strain, a chest contusion and a blister on his right middle finger. But Odorizzi was an All-Star in his last full season in 2019 with the Twins, posting a 3.51 ERA with 178 strikeouts in 159 innings. The Halos are planning for a six-man rotation in 2021, and they added Jose Quintana and Alex Cobb to a starting staff that also includes Dylan Bundy, Andrew Heaney, Shohei Ohtani and Griffin Canning. If healthy, Odorizzi could definitely win a rotation spot for the Angels.
