Forty-Plus Homers In Reach For Cody Bellinger
4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers outfielder Cody Bellinger won the National League MVP in 2019 when he hit .305 with 47 home runs and a 1.035 OPS, but his OPS fell by 246 points last year. While he may never be able to replicate that special 2019 season, there are reasons for optimism. Bellinger hit .284 with 10 home runs and a .960 OPS in his final 37 games in 2020 and his barrel rate in that span was 12.5 percent, which was close to his 90th-percentile mark (13.0 percent) in 2019. His expected wOBA was a strong .404. The 25-year-old lefty slugger saw minimal drops in his strikeout and walk rates and had an expected batting average of .284, so things weren't as bad as they seemed last year. Bellinger remains a strong No. 1 fantasy outfielder in the second round of drafts.
