Christian Yelich Should Bounce Back
4 years agoMilwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich's 34.6 percent swing rate last season was the second-lowest among qualified hitters in 2020. He had a 45.2 percent swing rate when he had his second straight MVP-caliber season, and the 10.6 percentage-point decrease was the largest among all hitters that qualified in 2019 and 2020. On the bright side, Yelich was fifth in baseball in hard-hit rate, so he should produce much better results if he's more aggressive at the plate in 2021. His 99th-percentile exit velocity and 98th-percentile hard-hit rate point to better days ahead. The 29-year-old hit .327 from 2018-19, so fantasy managers should mostly disregard his .205 average from a season ago during the pandemic. Yelich is one of the better bets to bounce back and remains a first-round selection.
