Cleveland Hasn't Talked Extension With Shane Bieber
4 years agoCleveland Indians starting pitcher Shane Bieber said the team hasn't approached him about a long-term contract extension, but he said he's willing to listen and sounded excited about the idea. Cleveland typically starts extension talks in spring training, so the two sides could come together soon on discussions. The 25-year-old right-hander is under team control through the 2024 season and won the 2020 American League Cy Young after posting a sensational 1.63 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 41.1 percent strikeout rate. He was about as perfect as a starting pitcher can be in a smaller sample size. Bieber tested positive for COVID-19, but he should be ready in plenty of time for Opening Day and is an elite top-three fantasy pitcher.
