Freddie Freeman Won't Report Tuesday
4 years agoAtlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman will not report with the rest of the team's position players to spring training on Tuesday following the birth of his twin sons. Manager Brian Snitker said he expects the 2020 National League MVP to arrive later in the week. Freeman will have to spend "a couple days" away from his teammates after reporting due to the league's COVID-19 protocols. Despite testing positive for the virus himself before the start of last season, the left-handed slugger hit .341 with 13 home runs, 53 RBI and an NL-leading 23 doubles in the regular season. The 31-year-old is entering the final year of a $135 million, eight-year deal and hit .295 with a career-high 38 home runs and 121 RBI in 2019. Freeman is one of the best all-around hitters in the game and will come off the board late in the first round of fantasy drafts.
