Jake Arrieta Happy To Be Back With Cubs
4 years agoFormer Cy Young winner Jake Arrieta is happy to be back with the Chicago Cubs and said it's "where I wanted to be." The 34-year-old right-hander signed a one-year, $6 million deal to return to the team that he helped win a World Series title with. He pitched for Chicago from 2013-17 and won the Cy Young in 2015, throwing two no-hitters along the way. However, Arrieta's ERA went from 3.96 in 2018 to 4.64 in 2019 with the Phillies, and it rose again to 5.08 in 2020. He says he's healthy after dealing with a meniscus issue and bone spurs in his knee. With a current average draft position of 691, the vast majority of fantasy managers don't want to touch the aging veteran, even in NL-only leagues. A return to Chicago could invigorate Arrieta, but he'll have to prove it with improved performance and health in order to get back on the fantasy map.
