Padres Feel Good About Dinelson Lamet
4 years agoThe San Diego Padres feel good about starting pitcher Dinelson Lamet (elbow), who missed the playoffs last year because of an elbow/biceps injury. The 28-year-old right-hander received a platelet-rich plasma injection in October, and there have been questions about whether he'll be ready for the start of the 2021 season after he broke out as a legitimate ace in 2020 before his injury. "Right now, we feel really good about where he's at," manager Jayce Tingler said. "He's going to be throwing his bullpens and building up from there." Lamet is on the same schedule as the rest of the pitchers, so barring a setback, he should be ready to go. Using his slider, his best pitch, in bullpen sessions will be a notable step in his progression. The skills are there, but Lamet will be a risk-reward low-end SP2 in fantasy drafts.
