Jake Marisnick Agrees With Cubs
4 years agoThe Chicago Cubs agreed to a deal with free-agent outfielder Jake Marisnick on Thursday, according to a source. MLB Network's Jon Heyman is reporting that the deal is for $1 million, plus $500,000 in incentives for the 2021 season. The deal also includes a $4 million mutual option for 2022 that comes with a $500,000 buyout. Marisnick, who will turn 30 years old in March, was 11-for-33 with two home runs and five RBI in 33 at-bats over just 16 games in his lone season with the Mets in the shortened 2020 season. In his last full season with Houston, he slashed just .233/.289/.411 with 10 home runs, 34 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 120 games. Marisnick will join an outfield that consists of Joc Pederson, Jason Heyward and Ian Happ, and he figures to be a part-time player mostly useful for his glove and speed. You can ignore Marisnick in mixed fantasy leagues in 2021.
