Vikings Promote Klint Kubiak To Offensive Coordinator
4 years agoThe Minnesota Vikings are promoting Klint Kubiak to offensive coordinator on Monday, according to sources. Head coach Mike Zimmer wanted to keep the Kubiak offense in place after Klint's father, Gary, retired following the 2020 season as the offensive coordinator. The 33-year-old will take over for his father after coaching the team's quarterbacks for the last two years. Andrew Janocko, who coaches wideouts last season, is expected to become the quarterbacks coach, while Keenan McCardell, who coached receivers in Jacksonville from 2017-20, will hold the same position with Minnesota. Zimmer thought the team's offense was the most explosive one he's had in his seven seasons with the team, which makes sense why he'd want to keep a similar identity under the Kubiak name. The Vikings finished fourth in total offense and 11th in scoring in 2020.
