Nationals Bring Gerardo Parra Back
4 years agoThe Washington Nationals re-signed outfielder Gerardo Parra to a minor league deal on Wednesday that includes a non-roster invite to spring training, according to a person familiar with the deal. The deal will be worth $1 million if he's on the active roster. Parra played for the Yomiuri Giants in Japan in 2020, but he was a clubhouse sensation for the Nationals World Series run in 2019. The left-handed hitter appeared in only 89 games as a utility outfielder and slashed .250/.300/.447. The 33-year-old two-time Gold Glove winner has played for six teams -- Diamondbacks, Rockies, Brewers, Nationals, Giants and Orioles -- in his 11-year big-league career and has a slash line of .276/.323/.404 in 1,466 games. Parra will compete for a reserve role for the Nats this spring and can be ignored in fantasy.
