Kolten Wong In Talks With Brewers
4 years agoThe Milwaukee Brewers are in discussions with free-agent second baseman Kolten Wong, according to sources. It's unclear if a deal is close. Milwaukee would be an odd fit for Wong, as they already have young second baseman Keston Hiura at the keystone and infielders Orlando Arcia, Luis Urias and Daniel Robertson. Wong's market is beginning to heat up after a handful of middle infielders signed with teams last week. The Cardinals, Tigers, Mariners, Rays, Cubs and Phillies have all had some level of interest as well. The 30-year-old has won two straight Gold Gloves and is a defensive standout. He slashed .265/.350/.326 with a homer, 16 RBI and five steals in 53 games in 2020. Wong lacks power at the keystone but has 20-plus steals in two of his eight big-league seasons and will represent middle infield depth in deep mixed and AL/NL-only leagues.
