Nelson Cruz Returning To Minnesota
4 years agoThe Minnesota Twins agreed to re-sign designated hitter Nelson Cruz to a one-year deal on Tuesday night, according to sources familiar with the deal. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The 40-year-old will return to the middle of a strong Twins lineup in 2021 after he hit .303/.397/.595 with 16 home runs and 33 RBI in 185 at-bats over 53 games during the shortened 2020 season. With it looking likely now that there won't be a universal DH again in the National League in 2021, the Twins struck quickly to bring their right-handed slugger back. In 2019 with the Twins, Cruz slashed .311/.392/.639 with a 41 homers and 108 RBI in 120 games. Despite how productive he's been, Cruz could still come at a relative discount because of his age and lack of positional flexibility for fantasy managers. But as long as he can stay healthy, we see know reason why he can't be profitable in fantasy lineups for his raw power alone.
