Jacob Eason Says He's Ready To Start
4 years agoIndianapolis Colts quarterback Jacob Eason, the 122nd pick in the fourth round of the 2020 draft, didn't play at all in his rookie season while sitting behind Philip Rivers and Jacoby Brissett. But Rivers has hung up his cleats and Brissett is entering free agency, and Eason thinks he's ready for the starting job if the Colts will give it to him. "It's realistic as soon as possible," Eason said. However, general manager Chris Ballard said that the team isn't ready to even commit to Eason as a backup in 2021 despite the fact that they were pleased with his rookie development. The Colts simply haven't seen enough of Eason, especially since the preseason was canceled due to COVID-19. The 23-year-old from Washington could get his chance eventually, but Indy is likely to bring in a proven signal-caller in 2021. Eason isn't a bad stash in dynasty/keeper leagues, though.
