Vidal Brujan 2021 Outlook: Small, Speedy Infielder has Untapped Pop
4 years agoBrujan's hopes of being an impactful player at the MLB level in 2021 could hinge on the health of Brandon Lowe, the Rays' versatile breakout star who should spend most of his time at second base this season. Brujan is a natural hitter who has shown the ability to hit .280-.300 with ease and he was on a run of two straight seasons with at least 48 stolen bases before the pandemic wiped out the entire 2020 minor league season. The downside to this young player is that he doesn't provide much current power — although there are signs that he could eventually produce double-digit home runs on a regular basis. He possesses a small frame, but Brujan has a muscular build and a quick bat. With added maturity and some launch angle corrections, this young infielder could surprise fantasy managers with his pop. But we don't necessarily foresee that happening in 2021. Although the speedy infielder should make his MLB debut in the coming year — and he could be a real weapon come playoff time thanks to his speed — Brujan is a future waiver-wire acquisition in redraft leagues rather than a draft day target and a must-have in dynasty leagues (especially if your league includes steals).
