Reds Acquire Kyle Holder From Phillies
4 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds acquired shortstop Kyle Holder from the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday, according to sources. The 26-year-old was selected in the Rule 5 draft by the Phillies after spending six years in the New York Yankees organization. Cincinnati is still hoping to trade for Cleveland shortstop Amed Rosario. They wanted to sign Didi Gregorius, who had played with the Reds before, but they couldn't compete with the two-year, $28 million deal he got to re-sign with the Phillies. Holder has not played above Double-A ball in the minor leagues and last played with Double-A Trenton in 2019, slashing .265/.336/.405 with a career-high nine home runs, 40 RBI and seven stolen bases in 112 games over 472 plate appearances. He'll represent organizational depth at the position and can be ignored in dynasty/keeper leagues for now.
