Tommy La Stella Chooses The Giants
4 years agoThe San Francisco Giants signed free-agent infielder Tommy La Stella to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday night. La Stella was with the Angels and A's during the shortened 2020 season and had an .819 OPS in 55 total games. The 32-year-old left-handed hitter was an All-Star for the Angels in his last full season in 2019, slashing .295/.346/.486 with a career-high 16 home runs and 44 RBI in 292 at-bats over just 80 games. His five dingers in 2020 qualify as his second-highest home run output in a single season. La Stella can provide some valuable pop here and there, but he'll mostly serve in a utility role at second and third base behind Mauricio Dubon and veteran Evan Longoria, respectively. Because he's unlikely to be guaranteed an everyday role in San Fran, he'll be infield depth for fantasy managers in NL-only setups in 2021.
