Nationals Bring Back Ryan Zimmerman
4 years agoThe Washington Nationals are re-signing first baseman Ryan Zimmerman to a one-year, $1 million deal on Friday, according to a source. The 36-year-old veteran opted out of the 2020 season due to concerns about his family's safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, but he is returning to play his 16th major league season, which have all come with Washington. Zimmerman hit .257 with six home runs in 2019 on his way to helping the organization win the World Series. With the Nats trading for Josh Bell to be their everyday first baseman in 2021, Zimmerman will find playing time hard to come by, especially if there is no designated hitter in the National League like there was during the shortened 2020 campaign. You should be ignoring the right-handed slugger in mixed leagues this season.
