BALLER MOVE: Add in 14-Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 13% of leagues
ANALYSIS: After his first two seasons with the Detroit Pistons, Luke Kennard finally started to make good on the high hopes attached to him since he entered the league, and while a considerable chunk of his season saw him parked on the IR, he was able to close out the campaign averaging 15.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists in 32.9 minutes a game, while also converting on 2.6 of 6.5 three-point attempts per contest (39.9%). But after he had finally taken significant steps at the NBA level by exponentially ramping his production up across the board, he was shipped to the Clippers in a three-team deal involving the Nets back in November.
It's not easy to meaningfully work your way into a rotation that already featured Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, and the offseason additions of Serge Ibaka and Nicolas Batum made the transition all the more challenging. While key contributors Marcus Morris and Lou Williams remain very much in the offensive mix, it seems at this point like Kennard has neutralized other lingering threats to his playing time and scoring opportunities like Reggie Jackson and Patrick Patterson. While he's seeing the floor much less than he did last season at 22.8 minutes a night, he has averaged 8.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists while hitting 1.6 threes per game at a dialed-in 46.4% clip. He is capable of more explosive performances as well, evidenced by a two-game stretch last week where he combined for 34 points, nine boards, and eight assists. Whatever amount of opportunity that Luke Kennard receives to let it fly from deep in the Clippers rotation, he has been taking advantage at a remarkable rate. At this level of offensive efficiency, he makes a great deep-league scoring option with plenty of upside if he starts to get more minutes.
