Jake Odorizzi Drawing Widespread Interest
4 years agoFree-agent starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi, who was an All-Star in 2019, is drawing interest from the Los Angeles Angels, San Francisco Giants, Toronto Blue Jays, Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox, according to sources. The 30-year-old right-hander was on the injured list three separate times in 2020, battling an intercostal strain, a chest contusion and a blister. He finished with a 6.59 ERA in just 13 2/3 innings as a result. But in 2019 he posted a 3.51 ERA with a career-high 10.1 K/9 in 159 innings with the Twins. He made at least 28 starts every year from 2014-19, tallying a 3.88 ERA with an 8.7 K/9 in that span. Like most players last year, his shortened and injury riddled 2020 campaign should be thrown out. Odorizzi could be a solid value pick in fantasy drafts if his 2020 injuries are behind him and he lands in a favorable situation.
