Yankees Avoid Arbitration With Aaron Judge
4 years agoThe New York Yankees and outfielder Aaron Judge avoided salary arbitration on Friday by agreeing to a one-year, $10.175 million deal. Judge won the 2017 American League Rookie of the Year in 2017, but suffered through his third injury plagued season in 2020, hitting .257 with nine home runs and 22 RBI in 101 at-bats over 28 games. He homered in his first five games but strained his calf and played just once between Aug. 11 and Sept. 16. The slugger was limited to 112 games in 2018 with a broken right wrist and 102 games in 2019 due to a strained oblique. The Yanks also reached deals with catcher Gary Sanchez ($6.35 million), first baseman Luke Voit ($4.7 million), third baseman Gio Urshela ($4.65 million), shortstop Gleyber Torres ($4 million), right-hander Chad Green ($2.15 million), left-hander Jordan Montgomery ($2.13 million) and outfielder Clint Frazier ($2.1 million).
