Sammy Watkins Won't Play In Divisional Round
4 years agoKansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins (calf) and linebacker Willie Gay (ankle) missed practice all week and will not play in the Divisional Round against the Browns on Sunday. Watkins suffered a calf injury in Week 16 and was held out of the Week 17 regular season finale, but two weeks of rest wasn't enough to allow him to play in the Chiefs first playoff game this year. With the 27-year-old inactive, Demarcus Robinson and Mecole Hardman have a better chance of exploding for a big play against Cleveland's shaky secondary this weekend. While both pass-catchers should see increased targets, they are both still boom/bust fantasy options in an offense with plenty of other weapons. If KC advances past the Browns, Watkins won't be guaranteed to be available for the AFC Championship game.
