Corey Kluber Could Find A Team By This Weekend
4 years agoThe bidding for free-agent starting pitcher Corey Kluber is moving quickly and will likely reach a conclusion by this weekend. The two-time Cy Young winner impressed scouts from 25 different teams on Wednesday during a throwing session, causing interested teams to move more quickly on the right-hander. Kluber is returning from a torn right teres muscle in his shoulder, which ended his 2020 season after just one inning with the Rangers. The 34-year-old has made just eight starts in the last two years due to injuries, but he went 83-45 with a 2.85 ERA while averaging 32 starts a year from 2014-18 with Cleveland. When healthy, Kluber could still be one of the better pitchers in baseball, making him an excellent buy-low candidate in fantasy drafts in 2021. Barring an injury setback before spring training, he should be at full strength for the start of the regular season.
