Marcell Ozuna's Market Taking Shape
4 years agoThe market for free-agent outfielder/designated hitter Marcell Ozuna has begun to take shape in recent days, with a source saying that both American League and National League teams are involved despite the uncertainty over designated hitter rules across baseball in 2021. Some teams are comfortable with him as their everyday left fielder, but it remains to be seen if NL teams will extend serious offers to Ozuna before a final decision is made on the DH. NL teams such as the Braves and Nationals could use Ozuna's power in their lineup, as long as they are comfortable throwing him in the outfield. Ozuna had a few underwhelming seasons with the Cardinals but almost won the NL Triple Crown in 2020 with 18 home runs, 56 RBI, a .338 average and a 1.067 OPS. He'll certainly command a multi-year deal after betting on himself on a one-year deal in Atlanta last season.
