Doug Pederson On Shaky Ground
4 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson's status is on shaky ground and he could be out as the head coach if owner Jeffrey Lurie is not confident about Pederson's vision for the team in their next meeting, according to sources. The two are expected to meet again early this week in Florida after discussions this past Tuesday didn't go well. Lurie's concerns go well beyond the struggles of quarterback Carson Wentz, ranging from personnel to the coaching staff's outlook. The Eagles went 4-11-1 in 2020, but Pederson led the team to its only Super Bowl title in 2017 and playoff berths each of the previous three seasons. Philadelphia finished 26th in scoring (20.9 points per game) and 28th in passing yards (207.9 per game) this season, with Wentz being benched in favor of rookie Jalen Hurts down the stretch. Wentz plans to ask for a trade this offseason because of a fractured relationship with Pederson, according to sources.
