Trevor Story A Dark-Horse Option For Blue Jays
4 years agoColorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story could be a dark-horse option for the Toronto Blue Jays after they were the runner-up for shortstop Francisco Lindor, who was traded to the Mets in a blockbuster trade involving starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco on Thursday. Toronto has also been connected to outfielder George Springer, but his reported asking price of $175 million might be out of their price range. Story can become a free agent after the 2021 season, although the Rockies would prefer to trade third baseman Nolan Arenado, who has $199 million left on his deal and can opt out after 2021. Toronto's offer for Lindor may have had a higher ceiling than the one Cleveland took, so they could turn around and offer something similar for Story. The Blue Jays already have Bo Bichette at shortstop, but they could always move him to second or third base if they were to acquire Story.
