Yadier Molina Inevitably Returning To Cardinals?
4 years agoThe idea of the St. Louis Cardinals re-signing catcher Yadier Molina is approaching inevitable territory, but there is still an opportunity for another team to come in with a higher bid and steal Molina away. But the Cardinals have the trump card that Molina wants two years and he wants to remain with the Red Birds. The prospects of the team bringing starting pitcher Adam Wainwright back are less clear. In addition to the Cardinals, the Mets and Yankees had interest in Molina a while back, but the Mets can be checked off that list after they added James McCann as their starting backstop. All signs point to the 38-year-old future Hall of Famer staying in St. Louis. Molina remains a fine defensive backstop but is no longer a high-end fantasy catcher because of his declining offensive skills.
