Dylan Moore 2021 Player Outlook: Small Sample Places Him at a Premium
4 years agoThere's little doubt that Dylan Moore, a player who prior to 2020 was just a 27-year-old with not even 300 career Major League plate appearances, made improvements at the plate and changed the outlook of his career. Most notably, he more than doubled his barrel rate to an outstanding 13.8%, along with a 44.7% hard-hit rate which is well above average. Add in that Moore is a stolen base threat (12 in 38 games), and it is easy to see why his early ADP is approaching 100. This would be a great player to have for a full season, but it should be kept in mind that this was just a 38 game sample. He did a lot of things well, and he should still do so in the future. He'll be a threat for stolen bases and power, but expect his .282 batting average to come down. We saw this after he returned from injury in September. He still had a .220 ISO and six steals, but his batting average dropped way down to .220. His September is more likely to be representative of his future performance than his July and August, considering the track record. While that wouldn't make him a bad player, it perhaps is not the type of player that should be drafted with a pick near the top-100.
